Last Thursday, the Korean Community in Queens gathered outside on the corner of Northern and Parsons Blvd to call for a worldwide boycott of McDonald’s for the month of February. For the past few months, the management in the Northern and Parsons branch of McDonald’s has called 911 to arrest the Korean elderly patrons for loitering in the restaurants. Even though they buy a cup of McDonald’s coffee and just chill in the restaurant for hours on end, and sometimes it does take them a while to finish, it is considered a crime? The community leaders are calling McDonald’s action “stark racism,” but the staff members at the restaurant are saying it is losing money from other customers who want a refund on their meals because they can’t find a seat.
