Blind Chef Competes on MasterChef, Makes Everyone Emotional

I’ve been avoiding MasterChef because there’s just too much Gordon Ramsay in my life. I’m a big fan of Kitchen Nightmares, Hell’s Kitchen, some F Word, and there’s no need to add any more to that. I already have dreams where I under cook some scallops and dude is just screaming on me. But cot damn, I just found a reason to watch.

The first blind cook to compete on Fox’s “MasterChef,” 33-year-old Christine Ha is a Master of Fine Arts candidate in fiction/creative nonfiction in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Houston.

When cooking, Ha allows her heightened sense of smell and taste to compensate for her lack of vision. On MasterChef, Ha is allowed by the producers to cook with an assistant, who guides her around the unfamiliar kitchen and helps her collect ingredients. Other than that, Ha has to follow the same rules as her rivals.

Damn, I teared up. I hope she wins. Check out her site here.

MasterChef’s Christine is an amazing cook, and to have that kind of talent for cooking with being blind really blows everyone’s mind. I’m really glad that my Hopper self recorded this show for me because now I have a new idol. Josh is also a great cook, and Christine and Josh are the two contestants that I’m rooting for. I’m not home during the hours this show airs, so I’m really glad that my Dish coworker told me about the Hoppers PrimeTime Anytime feature. This feature automatically records all of my prime time shows that come on CBS, NBC, FOX and ABC everyday in HD.
