Piranhas have been found in China and they’re attacking people. In particular, QQ reports, one Mr. Zhang of Liuzhou City was bathing his dog in a river when a piranha attached to his hand and chewed it up. Yeah, that bloody photo above is the damage done. After Mr. Zhang went public with his story, a few more incidents involving these carnivorous fish washed up.

What’s scary is that this pirhana isn’t a new species, but is actually identical to the legendary South American fish. Chinese government officials call the fish an invasive species. How does a South American fish get all the way to Asia? The current theory involves rich tropical fish collectors, who dumped their exotic fish collections into the river when they got bored with them. This is certainly the scary side of globalization.
