Check the bio, dawg. I’m a Godzilla fan. Now I couldn’t quote you a lot of trivia or even remember basic plot lines for most of the films (you’ll see why in a second), but I don’t care. I bought the toys. I drew like a thousand and eight Godzilla drawings during class. I was out there, before the internets, beggin’ moms to bring me to every video store I could find to peep if they had a Godzilla film I ain’t see yet. I took those naps during the dialogue/human bits and woke up to see the monsters fighting (what plot line? I guess it was almost like a porno for the kid lol). I watched the rumble between him and King Kong and got mad as fuck, then I had my boy play King Kong and I jacked him up on some alternate ending shit. ALL WE GOT IS US, GODZILLA.
So, I hope they do this thing justice. I’m not one of those stuck up fans that’s all “NOOOOOO THEY’RE GONNA RUIN IT!”. If they fuck it up, like they did before, whatever. Maybe they’ll do it better next time. I’m willing to see them take those risks for the off chance they’ll do a Dark Knight nahmean?
Anyway, looks like they started filming in Canada.
Principal photography for Gareth Edward’s Godzilla remake began in British Columbia on Monday, and local news coverage and a set video previewed more of the set. The crew is currently shooting in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, an area chosen due to its railways.
True, true. And AngryAsianMan has some more details about cast, particularly one dude:
Warner Brothers announced that principle photography has officially begun in Vancouver on a new big-budget modern movie reboot of Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards, with a cast that includes Juliette Binoche, Brian Cranston, David Strathairn, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, among others.
But sorely missing from this ensemble was anyone resembling the fierce movie monster’s Japanese roots. Maybe that’s why they announced that Ken Watanabe, Actual Japanese Person — and lately, the studio’s go-to Asian guy — had also joined the cast
No doubt. Watanabe’s a G. I’m excited to see what they come up with.
The film is still scheduled to open on May 16, 2014.
