This post right here is for anyone who’s ever thought ‘damn, all that money these folks are using to promote ______ could be used for a better cause’. Caisey Nestat regularly works with studios to create promo videos for films. When 20th Century Fox asked him to do one for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, he used the budget to provide food and medical assistance to the
victims survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.

so on a whim we decided to launch our very own relief mission. it was complicated and at first improbable but with the help of an extremely loving group of locals, all who were total strangers, we were able to stretch the production budget really far. beyond the food distributed in the video we also worked with a local nurse and purchased a lot of medicine and medical supplies, as well as providing tools to village leaders to be shared within the village and aid in the rebuilding process.
End of the day, it’s a win for Fox and the movie as well. Just a different way to market it (it’s getting way more attention than if they just put together a regular ass promo clip) and associate the title with these good feels (if you don’t feel any feels, forget you). Nothing wrong with that. Applaud the studio and Nestat for the great idea. Also, let’s not forget, people still need help out there. If you’re in the New York area come out to this.
