I learned a while ago, never underestimate anybody. Comic book artist OG Jim Lee used to be on the humble once upon a time ago, just trying to get his foot in the door. He shared some of the artifacts from this era via Instagram, rejection letters from the companies he was trying to get down with. It was probably for funsies, but for the rest of us, it’s a good reminder to work hard and learn how to take critique. Love these.

Jim says he was maniacally sending in pages every month. Another rejection from DC, though Jim says Giordano’s message in the post script meant the world to him, and still does.

And finally… “Moral of the story. Never give up! 1st assignment Alpha Flight 51. 19 days for 22 pgs. #nopressure hah”

I don’t know about ya’ll. It’s just some letters but by the last Instagram flick, I had a couple tears coming down. Never give up, ya’ll.
