If you don’t know Jollibee, you probably aren’t filipino. The fast food chain with the bumblebee mascot shits on McDonald’s out in the Philippines and I know the location in Queens, NY is always poppin. Recently, they opened up a location in the south, Houston to be exact, and the reception has been massive.
A manager tells CultureMap that the restaurant has been serving up to 1,500 people per day since it opened, and judging by the line outside the restaurant Sunday afternoon, fans are willing to wait an hour or more to get their fix. Even at 11 a.m. Monday morning, a line had started to form. Parking is at a premium in the small lot, and a washateria next door has blocked off spaces for its patrons.
1,500 people per day. One hour wait! Damnnn.
The writer wasn’t blown away by the food and maybe rightfully so (I fux with the food but I don’t know about an hour wait). But this is a good example of folks really embracing something from their mother country opening up stateside. I’d wait an hour for that.
