The Studio Ghibli Mastermind is planning a new biopic but don’t expect to see no Totoro-types.

Miyazaki’s new biographical film will be based around the life of the designer of the Zero fighter plane which was used on the Pearl Harbor attack during World War II, Jiro Horikoshi. The aeronautical engineer developed numerous Japanese military aircrafts, with the Zero being his most renowned invention.

Studio Ghibli is reported to have already done a large-scale for animators that are able to draw aeroplanes at a high standard to work on the film.

For long time fans, this isn’t too much of a surprise. The Walt Disney of Japan has tackled a lot of heavy subject matter in the past. But damn, tackling Pearl Harbor topics?! I can’t wait to see this. Expect a masterpiece in storytelling.
