If you’ve been following this site, you know I have a weird relationship with plastic surgery. I’m not against it but I’m not thrilled about it. It is what it is. This new bit is pushing me into the latter territory though. Folks are now getting surgery to make it so you appear to be smiling, always!

“Your eyes and mouth make up the most of your facial expression,” Dr. Cha Seung-youn of ZIEN Plastic Surgery told Wall Street Journal. Some clinics are now offering more than a dozen different procedures to alter the mouth, including enlargement and gum exposure reduction.

Is this at all necessary? Generally, I’m neither for nor against plastic surgery, but this is just being lazy. How much facial muscle power does it take to turn the corner of your lips slightly up so you can look like your smiling?

Unless it’s some sort of medical condition that makes your lips hang in a downward frownie face to which you’re unable to physically make yourself smile, I think it’s almost safe to say that it’s just your face and you don’t want to smile. Don’t fake the funk!

      haha really tho
