Spike Lee’s adaptation of the South Korean thriller “Oldboy” has lost yet another candidate in Clive Owen to play the film’s villain. Other notable actors attached to the role were Christian Bale and Colin Firth. Originally scheduled to begin shooting in March 2012, the production has been postponed until later this year. Josh Brolin will play the lead role in the Mark Protosevich script rewrite.
Based on Park Chan-Wook’s “Oldboy”, the story follows a man who is kidnapped and kept in isolation for 15 years. Upon being unexpectedly released, he vows to find the man responsible for his imprisonment and uncover the reasons behind it.
