This lego brick layout of Japan is composed of 1.8 million pieces. Needless to say, it’s elaborate as hell and if you peep the closeups, they put some detail into it.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic building blocks being introduced into Japan, LEGO’s Japanese subsidiary sponsored a cross-country workshop called “Build Up Japan” where over 5000 people in 6 different regions collaborated to create the gigantic map.

Rather than recreating existing landmarks, participants were encouraged to imagine their ideal Japan and to create imaginary structures.  The finished product then traveled to Tokyo, where it was put on display.

Awesome. But you know one of those kids at the event started drooling at it though. #GODZILLALIVES
